Karachi: South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has spoken of giving less attention to cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has claimed that money is given more importance than sports in this fascinating T20 tournament. Stan said in January this year that he would not be a part of IPL 2021 but would continue to play in other leagues of the world.
Steyn, who was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore last season, justified not playing in the IPL, he said, “I think when you go into the IPL, you have a big team and some big players there.” There is more attention on the earnings of the players there, in such a situation, the game is often left behind.
Stan’s performance in IPL
The South African bowler has taken 97 wickets in 95 matches of IPL, in which his best performance is three wickets for eight runs. In the last few years due to injury, he has been able to play only 12 matches (IPL) in the last three seasons.
The veteran, who is representing Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), said, “When you play in the PSL or Sri Lanka Premier League, cricket is given importance there. I am here for only two days and people are asking me about my game here. This is forgotten in the IPL and the main issue is how much money are you making? This is the bitter truth. I wanted to stay away from such things and concentrate on good cricket.
