Bad day in stock market, Sensex closes below 60 thousand and Nifty closes below 18 thousand

Today, at the time of closing bell of Wednesday, January 19, the index of 30 top companies of BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) Sensex was close to 60 thousand (60,098.82) with a loss of 656.04 points. At the same time, the index of 50 top companies of NSE (National Stock Exchange) Nifty made a loss of 174.65 points at the level of 17,938.40. Today Sensex fell 1.08% and Nifty fell 0.96%.

Today the market opened with a slight increase. Today the Sensex fell 90.73 points to open at 60,845.59. At the same time, Nifty started trading today at 18,129.20, down 16.15 points. The highest and lowest levels of the Sensex during today’s trading were 60,870.17 and 59,949.22 respectively. On the other hand, Nifty high and low stood at 18,129.20 and 17,884.90 respectively.

A mixed trend was seen on the sectoral front today. Auto, metal, power and oil and gas indices ended in the green, while banks, FMCG, IT, pharma and realty sectors witnessed selling. The BSE Midcap index closed 0.3 percent and the Smallcap index flat.

Today around 1432 shares rose, 1766 shares declined and 72 shares remained unchanged. Top 5 loser stocks in Nifty at the end of the day – Asian Paints, Shree Cements, Infosys, Grasim Industries and HUL. At the same time, today the top five companies were – ONGC, Tata Motors, SBI, Coal India and UPL.
