BCCI announces Team India for first two Tests against England, Akshar Patel selected in team for the first time


India vs England: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Team India for the first two matches of the four-match Test series against England. All-rounder Akshar Patel has been included in Team India for the first time for the first two Tests against England.

All-rounder Washington Sundar, who made his fourth Test against Australia, has also been included in the Indian team for the first two Tests against England. Sundar had performed brilliantly with both bat and ball in his debut test. He took four wickets and 84 runs in his first Test.

Apart from this, Mohammed Siraj, the highest wicket-taker for India in the Test series against Australia, has also been given a chance against England. Siraj took 13 wickets in just three Tests against the Kangaroos.

Ishant Sharma returned to the team

Fast bowler Ishant Sharma has returned to the Indian team for the first two Tests against England. He was not part of the team on tour to Australia due to injury. Apart from him, Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur have got place in the fast bowling department. At the same time, R Ashwin, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav and Akshar Patel have been included in the spin department.

Hardik Pandya returns to Test team after 29 months

All-rounder Hardik Pandya has also returned to the team for the first two Tests against England. He played his last Test against England in August 2018. Hardik can prove to be very effective on Indian pitches. He has 532 runs and 17 wickets with a century in 11 matches of Test cricket.

Prithvi Shaw and T Natarajan are out of the team

Opener Prithvi Shaw, who performed poorly in Australia, has not been selected in the Indian team for the first two Tests against England. Apart from this, fast bowler T Natarajan, who made his debut in the Gaba Test, has also not been selected in this team. He took three wickets in his first Test.

Apart from this, fast bowler Mohammad Shami, all-rounder Ravindra Jedja and middle order batsman Hanuma Vihari are also not part of this team due to injury. However, these players can be included in the team for the remaining two Tests.
