Before the series against South Africa, Sri Lanka suffered a major setback, Kusal Perera got corona

Kusal Perera Corona Positive: Sri Lanka Cricket Team has to play three-match ODI and T20 series of equal number of matches against South Africa next month. However, before the start of this series, the Sri Lankan team has suffered a major setback. Actually, former Sri Lankan captain and wicket-keeper batsman Kusal Perera has been found to be Corona positive.

Kusal Zenith Perera has been found infected with Kovid-19 ahead of the series against South Africa starting next month. Wicket-keeper batsman Perera tested positive in the RT-PCR test conducted on the players ahead of the start of training for the upcoming series against South Africa in Colombo.

Perera, who led the Sri Lankan team during their tour of England in June, missed the home limited overs series against India last month due to a shoulder injury. He was preparing to resume practice for the series against South Africa starting on September 2.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement, “Following detection, Kusal Perera is undergoing medical protocols related to COVID-19.” An SLC spokesperson said that Kusal Perera will have to follow the government’s quarantine rules before joining the national team.

However, it is still not confirmed whether he has fully recovered from the shoulder injury to return to international cricket. The team will enter the bio-bubble around August 25 to prepare for the series against South Africa. Sri Lanka are scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is against South Africa in Colombo from September 2 to 14.
