Big change in England’s team for Oval Test, Moeen Ali made vice-captain

India Vs England 4th Test: There has been a big change in the England team before the fourth Test against India to be played at the Oval. England have appointed their star spinner Moeen Ali as the vice-captain of the team for the remainder of the series against India. The England and Wales Cricket Board gave this information on Twitter.

Moeen has replaced Jos Buttler as the vice-captain of the team, who will be out of the fourth Test due to the birth of his second child. The ECB tweeted, “Moeen has been made the team’s vice-captain for the remaining two matches against India.”

Actually Jos Buttler also got this responsibility only for the series against India. Ben Stokes is the vice-captain of the England team, but he decided to take a break from cricket even before the start of the series, citing his mental health. In the absence of Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler was appointed Joe Root’s deputy.

Moeen Ali has captaincy experience

Moeen Ali got a chance to take charge of England for the first time last year. Moeen Ali has also captained England in T20 against Australia in 2020. Moeen Ali was not included in the first Test in Nottingham. In view of Moeen Ali’s excellent record against India, he had to return from the second Test at Lord’s.

The fourth Test match between India and England will be played at The Oval from Thursday. The five-match series between the two teams is currently tied at 1-1.
