Mumbai On the fourth day of the trading week, both major indices of the domestic stock market closed down on Thursday. At the end of trading, the 30-share Sensex Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was down 172.61 points, or 0.43 per cent, at 39,749.85 and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) 50-share index Nifty fell 58.80 points or 0.50 per cent to close at 11,670.80. .

Asian Paints, UltraTech Cement, Shree Cements, HCL Tech and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the major gainers on the Nifty, while L&T, Titan Company, ONGC, Adani Ports and Tata Motors were the top losers. At the same time, all other sectoral indices except IT and energy ended down under the leadership of FMCG, Pharma, Metal and Auto. The BSE Summerpack index fell 0.5 percent. About 1019 shares gained, 1542 shares declined and 170 stocks remained unchanged.
