Oats – 1 cup
Onion – 1
Carrot – 1
Beans – 8
Peas – 1/4 cup
Mustard – 1 teaspoon
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Whole Urad Dal – 1 teaspoon
Whole red chili – 2
Curry leaves – 10
Oil – 2 tablespoons
Salt – as per taste

Method of making

Fry the oats in a pan for 5 minutes without oil. Finely chop onions, beans and carrots. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard. When the mustard is cooked, reduce the flame and add urad dal to it. Fry until lentils turn golden. Now add onion to the pan and fry till it becomes golden. Add red chili, turmeric powder and curry leaves. Cook for a while on medium heat.

Now put beans, carrots and peas in the pan and cook the vegetables lightly. Now add 1/4 cup of water and salt and let it boil in the water. When the water starts boiling, add roasted oats in the pan and mix well. Oats will absorb water.

Cook the oats on low heat till the water dries. Serve hot with chutney or pickle.
