GT vs LSG: What did Lucknow captain KL Rahul say after defeat against Gujarat Titans?

KL Rahul on LSG Defeat: Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants were face to face in the IPL on Tuesday night. In this match, Gujarat defeated Lucknow by a huge margin of 62 runs. This was the second time in this season that Lucknow lost to Gujarat. After this match, Lucknow captain KL Rahul called poor batting the reason for the defeat. He also described the pitch as very difficult for batting.

KL Rahul said, ‘It was a difficult pitch. We have seen this in the last 2-3 matches. We knew that this match would be a low-scoring match. We bowled very well. In T20, stopping a team within 150 on any wicket is a big deal. The bowlers did their job well. We needed to do a little better with the batting. Some wrong shot selection and then run out spoiled our game. We need to learn a lot from this defeat.

KL Rahul says, ‘It is important for me and Quinton that we give a good start to the team. 60 runs may not come in the powerplay, but at least 35 to 45 runs should come without losing more wickets. In this match, we knew there was grip on the pitch and it would be a bit difficult to score runs after the powerplay. We took some chances but they did not prove to be right for us. We knew that scoring runs in front of the spinners of the opposition team would not be so easy. In the next matches, we have to find ways to score good runs on such strong teams and on such difficult wickets. We need to work on this.

Lucknow could not achieve the target of 145 runs
Batting first in this match, Gujarat Titans scored 144 runs thanks to the innings of Shubman Gill (63). Despite the wicket being in hand, the Gujarat team could not score runs fast on this pitch. Something similar happened with Lucknow as well. Lucknow kept on losing wickets from the beginning during the chase. Deepak Hooda was the lead scorer of Lucknow with 27 runs. The entire team of Lucknow was reduced to just 82 runs. In this way, Gujarat won this match by 62 runs.
