Chennai . Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), India’s second-largest carmaker, is set to resume production operations at its plants and is awaiting the decision of the state government. A senior official gave this information. Vice President of Corporate Affairs B.B. C. Dutta told IANS, HMIL has looked at the guidelines issued by the central government to resume production operations, which have provisions for the plant to be in rural areas or inside an industrial complex.
He said that the company has to fulfill its domestic and export market obligations.
Datta said that bringing people to the plant is the big issue, as some are living in coronavirus affected areas. We have standard operating procedure (SOP) for social distance, sanitation and other hygiene aspects.
The Government of Tamil Nadu has set up a committee to resume operations for industries, which will study and present its recommendations in this direction. Industries may then be allowed to commence operations.
Chief Minister Palaniswamy has said that the committee will submit its report on Monday. (IANS)
