India finished runners-up in 2005 and 2017 and this time they want nothing less than the title. Especially when its two star players captain Mithali Raj and fast bowler Jhulan Goswami are playing their last World Cup.

Although the Indian batsmen did well recently but the bowlers could not play the game as expected. Indian batsmen have scored more than 250 scores in five matches in the last seven including two warm-up matches which is a good sign for the team. But the bowlers could not work due to which India lost the series 1-4 to New Zealand. He could not defend the score of more than 270 runs in two matches. However, in the fifth match, he performed well, due to which India was able to win this match. Mithali hopes that her team will do well in both the batting and bowling department.

Mithali said, “We can gain confidence from the last matches. It is important to play according to the conditions.

The fast bowling department will be headed by the reliable Jhulan, who as always has shown a fine example of his wicket-taking skills but Meghna Singh, Pooja Vastrakar and Renuka Singh need to play better.

Spinner Deepti Sharma was the highest wicket-taker in the bilateral series, while Rajeshwari Gaikwad did well in the warm-up games but consistency in her performance would be crucial.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s timely return to form is a positive sign for India but opener Shefali Verma will be under pressure as she struggles to score runs. India will need a good start from him and Smriti Mandhana. Mithali will be tasked with grooming the innings while the team will hope that Richa Ghosh will maintain her good form.
