new Delhi. Currently, Reliance Jio, the company of Reliance Industries owner Mukesh Ambani, is also on target of farmers opposing the new agricultural laws of the central government. If the farmers protested by burning the SIM card of previous Jio, then the electricity of Jio’s tower is also being cut.
There are reports of disconnection of electricity connection of Geo tower from various districts of Punjab and Haryana. In many districts including Sirsa in Haryana, villagers have been protesting by cutting the electricity connection of the Geo Tower. However, there has been no official comment from Jio on these matters.
According to the information, recently, Jio has acquired its rival telecom companies- Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Ltd. (VIL) was also accused of misleading farmers. If the allegations are to be believed, Airtel and VIL are claiming that porting Jio’s mobile number on their network will support the farmer movement.
In the case of adding new mobile customers, Jio has once again been defeated by Sunil Mittal’s Airtel. This is the second consecutive month when Jio is lagging behind. Earlier in September too, Airtel beat Jio in terms of new connections after almost 4 years.
According to the TRAI report, the Mittal-led company added 36.7 lakh new customers in October. With this, the number of its mobile connections has increased to 33.02 crore. Subsequently, Jio added 22.2 lakh new mobile subscribers. Its number of connections has reached 40.63 crore.
