Maruti Suzuki domestic sales zero during lockdown

new Delhi . Maruti Suzuki India, an automobile major, said sales in the domestic market were zero in April during the nationwide extended lockdown. However, the company has been successful in exporting 632 vehicles. The company said in a statement, “Maruti Suzuki India made zero sales in the domestic market, including OEM sales in April 2020. This happened because all production facilities were shut down to comply with government orders.”

“After the port has resumed operations, we have made the first export shipment of 632 units to Mundra port. We have also ensured that all safety guidelines are followed,” he said.

The necessary lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of coronaviruses has caused a major setback to the commerce sector, including the temporary closure of shopping malls, stopping flights of aircraft, shutting down factories, etc. (IANS)
