Maruti Suzuki sales down 54 percent in June

new Delhi. The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki said on Wednesday that its total sales fell 54 percent to 57,428 units in June. Automobile major Maruti Suzuki said in a statement that it had sold 1,24,708 units in June last year.

Of the total sales, 52,300 units (cars) have been sold in the domestic market and 839 units in other OEMs.

According to a company statement, only 4,289 units have been sold in June this year as compared to 9,847 units exported in June 2019.

The statement said the impact on sales during the first quarter of June 2020 and FY 2020-21 should be seen in the context of the current coronavirus epidemic and the nationwide shutdown and necessary restrictions imposed thereafter.

The company said, “The company is committed to the health, safety and well-being of all its members. Production is being increased at the plants with maximum efforts to ensure safety and staff availability.”

According to the company, sales declined significantly during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2020-21. This time only 76,599 units were sold as compared to total sales of 4,02,594 units in the same period last year.
