New Zealand player scored 99 off 59 balls, Ashwin said – four days late

Conway, while playing a brilliant innings, scored 99 not out from 59 balls. On this, Ashwin tweeted that “Devon Conway is still 4 days late, but what was the innings.”

New Zealand, who came out to bat first, was initially shocked as Daniel Symes dismissed opener Martin Guptill on the third ball of the match. After that, captain Kane Williamson was also dismissed in the next over. With this, New Zealand lost three wickets before the completion of the powerplay. After which Conway along with Glenn Phillips put the New Zealand innings on track. Both added 74 runs for the fourth wicket before Marcus Stoinis broke the partnership. In the 13th over, Stoinis dismissed Phillips and brought New Zealand to 93/4. But Conway continued his superb form and completed his half-century off just 36 balls.

Conway and Jimmy Neesham together scored 34 runs in the next three overs with seven overs remaining. At the same time, a good partnership between the two was broken by Richardson in the 17th over, by dismissing Jimmy Neesham, but Conway continued his effort to score 184/5 in 20 overs for New Zealand. With which New Zealand won the match by 53 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20 series.
