Tokyo Olympics 2020: Indian pair Manika Batra and Sharath Kamal will face Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yun Tzu and Cheng E Cheng in the round-16 event of table tennis mixed doubles at the Tokyo Olympics. The draw for the table tennis event was announced on Wednesday. The mixed doubles event will be played for the first time in the Olympics.
The 34th seed Manick will begin her campaign in the singles event at the Olympics by taking on 94th-ranked Tin Tin Ho of Great Britain. Manika will face Ukraine’s Margarita Pesotska in the second round and Sofia Polkanova of Austria in the third round.
Her fellow 52nd seed Sutirtha Mukherjee will face 78th ranked player Linda Bergstrom in the opening round. Sutirtha will face Portugal’s Yu Fu in the second round while she will face Japan’s Mima Ito in the third round.

India’s men’s table tennis players Sharath Kamal (20th seed) and G Satyavan (26th seed) got byes in the men’s singles draw. Satyavan will face either Brian Afanador or Lam Siyu Hong of Hong Kong in the second round. After this, in the third round, he will face third seed Tomokazu Harimoto of Japan.
Sharath will face either Tiago Apollonia of Portugal or Olajide Omotoyo of Nigeria in the second round. Table tennis at the Tokyo Olympics will be held from July 24 to August 6.
