IND Vs SL: The Indian cricket team has been announced for the limited over series to be played against Sri Lanka next month. The most important thing is that former India captain and NCA Chief Rahul Dravid will play the role of coach for Team India on the Sri Lanka tour. On this occasion, Rahul Dravid has talked about his old experiences related to coaching.
Rahul Dravid has previously worked as a coach with India Under-19 and India A. Rahul Dravid says that when he was the coach of the team, his aim was to give every player a chance in the match. Dravid, however, no longer travels with the India A and Under-19 teams.
Rahul Dravid said, “I used to tell them in advance that if you have come with me on A team tour, then you will not leave here without playing a match. When I used to play at the junior level, I had my own experiences. It used to be very bad to go on A team tour and not get a chance to play matches.
A special way was told to come in the eyes of the selectors
Dravid also told the players how to come in the eyes of the selectors. The former captain said, “I used to tell the players, you perform well. You score 700-800 runs. You go with the team and there you don’t get a chance to show your ability. After that you have to score those 800 runs again in the next season to grab the attention of the selectors.
Dravid said that Indian cricketers are now considered to be the fittest in the world. Dravid has admitted that the fitness of South Africa and Australia was much better than the earlier Indian players and he did not understand much about it. Dravid now heads the National Cricket Academy and is playing a key role in grooming the next generation of cricketers.
