Proptech: WeMaintain raises funds and targets Asia

Few of the sectors have been shaken up as severely by the pandemic as proptech. But this crisis is also an opportunity for innovative players to conquer new market shares. This is the ambition of WeMaintain.

Founded by Benoît Dupont, Jade Francine and Tristan Foureur, the company specializing in regulated maintenance in buildings has never been shy. From its very first steps, in 2017, WeMaintain tackled an oligopoly in the elevator world (Otis, Schindler, Thyssen and Kon).

The power of data

The start-up uses the data to facilitate the work of technicians, improve their efficiency and provide real-time information to building managers. What better way to anticipate possible problems – and the steep bills that accompany them.

In addition to elevators, WeMaintain technologies are used for the maintenance of escalators and automatic doors. In 2021, the young shoot also acquired Shokly, a specialist in the maintenance of fire safety systems. The objective: to be present throughout the value chain in the world of “smart building”.

WeMaintain works primarily with office real estate players. The young growth has, for example, won the markets of the parks of Allianz Real Estate, WeWork in Ile-de-France, and DLR and Workspace in London. In total, the company provides its services to 120 companies, but also to 10,000 co-owners.

The start-up is ready to give a new boost and announces, on June 29, that it has raised a new fundraising of 30 million euros from Red River West, bpifrance Digital Venture, and its historical investors, Eurazeo Partners, Raise Ventures and Financière Saint-James. In total, the young shoot has amassed nearly 40 million euros from investors since its creation.

With its new fundraiser, WeMaintain plans to invest in the R&D, production and deployment of its technology. This will involve recruiting a hundred employees in the year – the start-up has 82 to date. “We are targeting a turnover of 15 million euros in 2021”, explains Jade Francine.

After a successful launch in London, an office will be opened in Singapore. “A vertical city”, insists the entrepreneur, and which is often cited among the most innovative on the planet. Benoît Dupont and Jade Francine know Asia very well. The city-state will be a showcase to demonstrate the know-how of the young shoot. In the medium term, WeMaintain would also like to tackle the North American market. The entry into its capital of the Red River West fund should help it there within eighteen months.
