Shahrukh Khan called and offered to play with KKR, former Pak all-rounder made a big claim


Pakistani players also participated in the first season of IPL i.e. 2008. In the first season, many Pakistani players including Shoaib Akhtar played for different franchises. While there were many players who could not be a part of this season and were expected to play in the next season. One such player was former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat. But after 26/11 Mumbai terror attack Pakistani players were banned. Because of this he did not get a chance to play. Now Yasir Arafat has shared a funny anecdote.

Former Pakistani all-rounder Yasir Arafat told that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owner and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan wanted him to be a part of his team. Shahrukh had prepared him for a 3-year contract with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Actually, this sentence is from the second season of IPL i.e. 2009. On a YouTube channel, Arafat said that in the first season of IPL, only 11 Pakistani players got a chance to play, I was not involved in that. But for the second season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owner and Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan contacted me.

I thought it was just a joke- Yasir Arafat

Yasir Arafat said, ‘At that time I was playing county cricket for Kent in England, where the scout team of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) came from India.’ Scout team said that Shahrukh wants you to play for his team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). But I couldn’t believe it at that time, I thought it was just a joke. Arafat further told that after a few days he got a mail. It was said in this mail that you did not contact for things related to the contract. After this Shahrukh himself called me and told me to play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Couldn’t be a part of IPL due to Mumbai terror attack: Yasir Arafat

The former Pakistani all-rounder further said that some time after this sentence, there was a terrorist attack in Mumbai. Because of which Pakistani players were banned in IPL. Because of this I could not play in IPL. Let us inform that Yasir Arafat has played 11 ODIs and 13 T20 matches in addition to 3 matches for Pakistan. He made his debut for Pakistan in the year 2000 while played his last match in 2012.
