David Warner Statement About Being Removed from the Captaincy: Former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner on Tuesday made a shocking revelation that the owners or the team management did not tell him why he was dropped as the captain. Australian opener, Kane Williamson was handed the captaincy in place of Warner in the first part of the Indian Premier League 2021 in April when the team was at the bottom after losing five of their six matches.
Warner told Sports Today, “I have a lot of respect for the owners and our coaching staff, Trevor Bayliss, Laxman, Moody and Murali, but when a decision is taken, it has to be unanimous. You don’t know who will support you.” Who is and who is not.
He said, “The disappointing thing for me is that the reason for my removal as captain was not given. If you want to go on the lines of form, then it is difficult, because I think you have performed before. There should be some reward later as well.”
The Australian further said that he would love to represent SRH again but it is not in his hands. “I would prefer nothing more than to represent Sunrisers, but obviously the decision rests with the owners,” he said. Sunrisers IPL 2021 remained at the bottom of the points table.
An emotional post was written for the team
Warner wrote a post on his Instagram, which was quite emotional. He wrote, “Thank you for all the memories associated with you. I want to tell myself and all the fans of the team that, you are our biggest strength and you have always inspired us to give our 100 percent on the field . It was a wonderful journey. Me and my family will miss you very much. Best wishes to Hyderabad team for this last effort today.”
