Here now the players will have to give notice three months in advance to retire. Apart from this, they will also have to wait for six months to get the No Objection Certificate (NOC).

This strict rule of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has come after the sudden announcement of retirement from cricket of Danushka Gunathilaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Bhanuka has recently said goodbye to her international career. At the same time, Gunathilaka has retired from Test cricket. It was also revealed in the report of a sports website that some other Sri Lankan players are also considering retiring from international cricket.

The major reason for Sri Lanka’s cricketers to retire from international cricket is believed to be the ongoing franchise cricket in other countries. Due to getting good money and name, the young players here are wanting to leave cricket for the country and play in leagues like IPL, Big Bash. Recently, many young Sri Lankan cricketers have left the country and gone to America.
