Stock market made a comeback in the weekend, Sensex and Nifty closed with gains


Mumbai. The first trading week of the year 2022 was positive in many ways. The market closed with good gains in 4 out of 5 trading days of the week. In the whole week, the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) Sensex gained about one and a half thousand points. At the same time, the Nifty of NSE (National Stock Exchange) rose about four and a half hundred points throughout the week.

In the first weekend of the year, the Sensex rose 142.81 points to close at 59,744.65. Nifty closed today with a gain of 66.80 points at 17,812.70. Sensex rose 0.24% today. Nifty outperformed the Sensex and gained 0.38 percent today.

The market did today’s opening positive, recovering from yesterday’s losses. Today the Sensex opened up 174.26 points at 59,776.10. Nifty opened today with a gain of 51.70 points at 17,797.60. The highest and lowest trading levels of Nifty in today’s trade were 17,905 and 17,704.55 respectively. Sensex traded once in today’s trading by going above 60 thousand (60,130.18) level. At the same time, today’s low level in the Sensex was 59,401.44.

On the sectoral front today, banks, metals, FMCG, oil and gas indices rose 0.5-1 per cent, while auto, capital goods and pharma names saw selling. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices closed in the green.

Today about 1910 shares rose, 1235 shares declined and 78 shares remained unchanged. Top gainers in the weekend were Grasim Industries, ONGC, Hindalco Industries, HDFC Life and Shree Cements. At the same time, the biggest losers in today’s day were M&M, Bajaj Finserv, L&T, Bajaj Finance and HDFC.
