Stock market today: Closing with an increase due to buying in the last hours


Mumbai. Due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine and the escalation of the war, the ongoing decline in the Indian stock market came to an end today. Due to the stagnation in the ongoing war in Ukraine, there is a possibility of a ceasefire. Today (Stock market today) the market was in turmoil till noon, but the market gained momentum due to the purchases made from around 2.30 pm onwards.

Today (Stock market today) at the time of the closing bell of Tuesday 8 March, the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) Sensex had gained 581.34 points at the level of 53,424.09. At the same time, NSE (National Stock Exchange) Nifty closed today with a gain of 150.30 points at the level of 16,013.45. Nifty rose 0.95% against Sensex’s 1.10% in today’s trade. Today around 2193 shares rose, 1069 shares declined and 84 shares remained unchanged.

It should be known that like the previous days, today’s opening was also bad. Sensex opened today’s opening with a loss of 412.69 points at 52,430.06 level. Nifty had opened today with a loss of 115.40 points at 15,747.75 level. In today’s trade, the highest and lowest levels of the Sensex were 53,484.26 and 52,260.82 respectively. Nifty touched a high of 16,028.75 and a low of 15,671.45 in today’s day.

Talking about Sectoral Index, today’s best performing sector was Nifty IT and the worst performing sector was Nifty Metal. It is to be known that Nifty Metal had a continuous upward trend for the last few days, but today it remained in loss. Barring metal, all other sectoral indices closed in the green with a rise of 1-2 per cent in pharma, IT, FMCG, capital goods and realty indices. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained over 1-1 per cent each.
