“Taking care of employees is for me a way to improve performance. My girlfriends, business owners, act in the same way, although there are probably men who don’t dare, for fear of being taken for weak, ”explains the boss of the manufacturer of gates and fences. Gym, social worker, electric bikes … Cadiou works its employer brand.

Recruitment objective

It must be said that recruiting is vital for this mid-sized company located in Locronan (Finistère). “Over the fiscal year ended August 31, our growth was exceptional, with turnover of 92 million euros, against 62 million a year before ”, indicates the leader of forty-four years.

Driven by the boom in the garden market, the company set up a night shift in January to increase production capacity by a third.

But how do you go about finding workers when the whole industry is complaining about recruitment difficulties? Since 2016, the ETI has focused on internal training with three-week school workshops, generally followed by CDD, then CDI.

24 trainees each year

“You don’t need to have a diploma to know how to set up a portal. Cadiou gives everyone a chance. For example, we have a lot of soldiers in retraining, but also more and more women, who thought it was not for them. “

Three sessions of 8 trainees take place per year. This year, the needs imposed an important recourse to the interim. “The interim is more difficult to manage. We can sometimes have temporary workers who leave for two weeks in the south of France overnight. In 2021-2022, we are going on a more ambitious workshop-school program, ”says Emmanuelle Cadiou.

Victim of a cyber attack in 2020, the ETI of 630 people also manages a more complicated supply which impacts delivery times. The increases in the price of raw materials are passed on directly to the artisans.

However, the outlook remains very good. How long will this last? “There is no reference to the current situation,” says Emmanuelle Cadiou, “but I’m used to sailing on sight. “
