Tata Motors December sales up 24 per cent year-on-year

New Delhi. Automobile maker Tata Motors on Saturday reported 24 per cent growth in its domestic sales in December 2021 on a year-on-year basis. Domestic sales increased to 66,307 units during the month under review from 53,430 units sold during December 2020.

The company’s total commercial vehicle sales increased to 31,008 units in December 2021 as against 29,885 units sold during the same month last year. Total passenger vehicle sales grew 50 per cent to 35,299 units from 23,545 units off-take in December 2020.

Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “Tata Motors PV business continued its growth journey and set several new milestones during the quarter despite the reduction in production due to the current semi-conductor crisis.”

“The overwhelming response from the market for the Tata Punch launched on October 21 is further fueling the demand for the company’s ‘New Forever’ range of cars and SUVs,” he added.

Chandra also said that the progressive revival of the EV fleet segment along with the ever-increasing demand for Nexon EV and Tigor EV were instrumental in driving this sharp growth.

Chandra said, “Semiconductor supply will continue to be a major source of uncertainty going forward. In addition, the impact of the COVID redesign needs to be closely monitored. We will continue to work on a business agility plan and mitigation of these risks.” will take proactive action for (IANS)
