Tesla may introduce electric car in 2023

San Francisco. Elon Musk has reportedly said that the automaker is planning to introduce its first $25,000 electric car in 2023. As Electrek reports, the CEO hinted that it will not be a steering wheel.

Musk previously noted that this new price point has been achieved through Tesla’s new battery cell and battery manufacturing effort, which could reduce battery costs by as much as 50 percent.

The $25,000 Tesla electric car is expected to be a new electric hatchback. Which the brand aims to produce at the Gigafactory Shanghai in China and export globally.

In an application filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Texas, the EV maker has requested to become a retail electric provider (REP) under its subsidiary Tesla Energy Ventures.

Tesla currently offers a retail electric plan in Australia and the UK, which focuses on integrating home energy storage.

According to auto-tech website Electrek, the automaker recently began providing its full energy ecosystem with solar panels, Powerwall home battery packs and electric vehicle chargers to third-party installers to offer the full Tesla energy ecosystem . (IANS)
