The stock market became buoyant due to profit-booking, Sensex closed below the level of 60 thousand

Mumbai. Today, in the fourth trading day of the week, there was an atmosphere of selling and profit-booking in the Indian stock market throughout the day. The result of this was that one of the two major indices of the Indian stock market could not trade even once in the whole day by going above yesterday’s closing. The market made a sluggish start today, poor trading throughout the day and eventually a loss-making closing. Yesterday also the market closed with heavy losses.

Today, on Thursday, January 20, at the time of the closing bell, the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) Sensex had fallen below sixty thousand (59,464.62). Today Sensex took a loss of 634.20 points compared to yesterday’s closing. On the other hand, the Nifty of NSE (National Stock Exchange) fell 181.40 points to close at 17,757 today. Nifty lost 1.01 per cent against Sensex’s 1.06 per cent today.

It is to be known that when the market had opened this morning, only then it had shown the color of its loss trading. Today the Sensex opened at 60,045.48 with a loss of 53.34 points. Whereas Nifty opened today with a loss of 17.40 points at the level of 17,921. The Sensex’s highest level was 60,045.48 in the whole day. On the other hand, the Sensex traded at a low of 59,068.31 in today’s trading. Today’s high and low level in Nifty stood at 17,943.70 and 17,648.45 respectively.

Barring power, realty and metals, all other sectoral indices were trading lower by 0.8-1.7 per cent along with auto, IT, FMCG and pharma indices for the day. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices closed flat.

Today about 1593 shares rose, 1606 shares declined and 64 shares remained unchanged. Top 5 loser stocks in Nifty today are Power Grid Corporation, Bharti Airtel, Grasim Industries, JSW Steel and Britannia Industries. At the same time, the top 5 stocks that were the biggest gainers in today’s day are – Bajaj Finserv, Infosys, TCS, Divis Lab and Bajaj Auto.
