The stock market closed with a fall, Sensex fell 125 points

New Delhi. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex closed 125 points lower at 59,015.89 points on Friday, the last day of the trading week due to profit-booking by investors. However, the Sensex had gone as high as 59,737 in early trade. The Sensex fluctuated 866 points during trading.

At the end of trading, the 30-share Sensex closed at 59,015.89, down 125.27 points, or 0.21 per cent. Similarly, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 44.35 points, or 0.25 per cent, to close at 17,585.15. During trading, Nifty had gone to the highest level of 17,792.95 points.

Kotak Bank was the biggest gainer with the Sensex shares rising more than 5 per cent. Apart from this, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, Maruti, Axis Bank and Nestle India were also the main gainers. On the other hand, the falling stocks include Tata Steel, SBI, TCS and Reliance Industries.

It is noteworthy that other stock exchanges in Asia, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong remained in gains. In the major markets of Europe, there was a sharp trend in the afternoon trading. Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude slipped 0.54 per cent to $75.26 per barrel.
