However, it is being said in some reports that spinner Jayant Yadav may be asked to stay in South Africa itself. Jayant is part of the Test team. However, he did not get a chance to play in a single match of the series. 31-year-old Jayant Yadav has played an ODI match for Team India in 2016. In this match against New Zealand, he took a wicket and scored an unbeaten one. Jayant played his last international match against New Zealand in December 2021.

The first match of the ODI series between India and South Africa will be played on January 19, second on 21 and third on January 23. But before that Team India has got a big setback. Washington Sundar got infected with the corona virus. Sundar is part of the ODI team. He has been away from international cricket for the last 10 months due to injury. Sundar had recently recovered and was part of the Tamil Nadu team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He did well in the tournament, after which he was selected in the ODI team.
