new Delhi. To link PAN (Permanent Account Number-PAN) to Aadhaar, after today, only tomorrow is the day of 31 March. PAN card may also become worthless from April 1 for not linking to Aadhaar card. The deadline has been extended several times to link PAN to Aadhaar, but this time no indication has been given by the Central Government to extend the deadline so far.

The last date for linking the first PAN to Aadhaar was fixed as 31 March 2020. This was later extended to 30 June 2020 due to the lockdown, but due to the corona virus, this date line was further extended again. Now the last date to link PAN to Aadhaar is 31 March 2021 i.e. till tomorrow. In such a case, if PAN is not linked to Aadhaar, then the PAN can become useless and can also become the reason for penalty.

According to experts, Section 272-B of the Income Tax provides that if a PAN is not linked with Aadhaar within the stipulated time frame, then a penalty of Rs 10,000 may have to be paid. For linking PAN to Aadhaar, help can be taken from the official website of Income Tax.
