What was the biggest reason for SRH’s poor performance in IPL 2022? Coach Tom Moody gave this answer

SRH in IPL 2022: IPL 2022 has been a very volatile one for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). This team started the season by losing two matches and then created panic in the league by winning 5 consecutive matches one after the other. The team of Sunrisers, which is moving towards securing a place in the playoffs by winning 5 matches out of 7 matches, was suddenly derailed from here and then lost 5 matches in a row and got out of the playoff race. Team coach Tom Moody’s comment has come regarding this amazing journey of Sunrisers and their failure to make it to the playoffs. He has said that due to injuries to key players, SRH could not maintain consistency in performance.

Injury to Washington and Natarajan
On Sunrisers Hyderabad’s YouTube channel, Moody said, “Injuries by Washington Sundar and Natarajan in the middle of the tournament threw us out of the tournament.” After these injuries, we could not be able to achieve that winning streak. It is worth noting that T Natarajan was out of 3 matches due to injury in the middle of this season. He was the main bowler of Sunrisers. By the time he was out due to injury, he was among the top-5 bowlers with the highest wicket-taker of this season. Similarly, Washington Sundar also could not play 5 matches this season due to injury.

Moody says, ‘We need to work on many things. And we know this. We would have been a little higher in the points table but these few incidents in the middle of the tournament pushed us out to a great extent.

‘The defeat from Gujarat was unexpected’
Moody also cited losses in some close matches during this period as the reason for SRH’s exit from the playoff race. He said, ‘The match against Gujarat Titans that we lost in the last overs, the loss in that match was unexpected. Gujarat Titans scored the required runs in the last, which at that time we felt that it would be impossible. However, this is the nature of T20 cricket.
